Five Players Who Could Have a Major Influence on the Super Bowl Result

Super Bowl LIX occurs on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The NFL has entered the playoff phases, which has placed all eyes on it to see who reaches the Superdome and plays in those coveted two spots. The Eagles are looking for strong candidates to secure a place following their win over the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

But the playoffs are still wide open. Whoever marches into the Caesars Superdome on Super Bowl day must be in their best form, and they’ll want their most important players to be. Who are those? Below is a look at key players in the five favorite teams for Super Bowl glory.

Jared Goff

The Detroit Lions are tipped to lift the Lombardi Trophy, having received Super Bowl odds of +275 on the betting lines. They’ll want their quarterback Jared Goff to be in form, and there’s no reason they can’t count on him. Goff has a strong arm and a good touch, and thanks to his height and field vision, he sees everything happening in front of him. He releases the ball quickly but can run his way out of trouble if he needs to. His deep throws give receivers plenty of opportunities.

Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs have received +350 on the betting lines, making them the next big favorites. They’ll be calling on Patrick Mahomes to step up. Mahomes puts out a lot of passes, and rarely do teams intercept the ball when he launches it to one of his teammates.

Mahome is supremely confident in his ability and drives the team forward. On Super Bowl day, he’ll have to be careful not to get overconfident in his perfect throwing arm because it causes him to make mistakes.

Jalen Hurts

The Philadelphia Eagles may be the third favorite to win the Super Bowl, with +400 on the betting lines, but they’ve looked stronger than this in the playoffs and may defy the sportsbooks’ predictions. Quarterback Jalen Hurts will be a key player if they make it to the big game, which will impact their performance.

Hurts rises to the big occasions and has the toughness and leadership qualities an NFL team needs. His skills will make him a real handful for other teams because he’s a mobile pocket passer, but he also has running back qualities, which transform him into a dual threat for teams. As if that wasn’t enough, he’s well-trained in the run/pass option and has no problem making off-balance throws. He’s highly competitive, so he’ll be right in his element at the Super Bowl and could spell real trouble for opponents.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens stand at +475 on the betting lines, but quarterback Lamar Jackson isn’t the only player whose performance could be decisive for the team if they get to New Orleans in February. Jones has been finding his feet slightly in the last couple of seasons but is still making a real name for himself as a nose tackle.

Jones is big, powerful, and hard to block, and he can control gaps in his team’s defense and shoot through gaps in the defense of other teams. He also has good ball-handling skills and a high football IQ. He’s another handful for opponents to deal with, and things have gotten a lot worse for offensive line players this season as the Ravens have been teaming Jones up with defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike, who chalked up 13 sacks last season.

Buffalo Bills

Having received +550 on the betting lines, the Buffalo Bills are the fifth favorite to lift the Lombardi Trophy. To do that, they’ll want Josh Allen to be at the top of his game. Early in the season, Allen was already being tipped as an MVP, and some consider him a one-person offense.

Thanks to his long arms, Allen is mobile in the pocket and can throw over defenders. He can power the ball down the field and does a good job of keeping the ball away from defensive backs and avoiding turnovers. His success comes from quick, short passes, and he spreads passes around to make the Bills more of a threat. Although his deep passing has been improving, he still needs to work on it.

The excitement is building for the 2025 Super Bowl, and the teams above will want their key players to be on form. The Detroit Lions are the favorites to walk away with the Lombardi Trophy, but if key players on other teams perform at their best, Super Bowl Day could look very different.
